TDOT Worker Dies In Crash
A state transportation worker is among two people killed in a crash on Interstate 55 west of Memphis just before the Mississippi River bridge.
Authorities said the state worker was a HELP truck driver who was aiding a stalled vehicle Monday afternoon when a tractor trailer hit the disabled vehicle and then the Tennessee Department of Transportation truck.
WMC-TV reports that the driver of the tractor trailer was the other person killed.
TDOT identified the state worker as Robert Nowicki, a former New York City police officer who responded to the 9/11 attack.
The identity of the other man was not released.
The accident site is actually in Arkansas but TDOT works the location because some of its cameras are located there.
