KY Rescue Squad Revolts
More than half of a volunteer rescue squad for a western Kentucky county quit over ongoing disputes with the county judge executive.
Thirteen members of Ballard County’s 21 rescue squad members quit on Monday over an argument with County Judge Executive Vickie Viniard. Viniard told WPSD-TV that the dispute is over a county vehicle that was taken away from the chief of the volunteer rescue squad, but members of the squad said the judge executive refuses to even talk to the chief.
Former rescue squad chief Jody Brown announced his resignation on Monday and a dozen others quit immediately after.
Emergency Management Director Anita Bugg said some volunteers who quit Monday night came back Tuesday and said the county will be protected with the remaining members of the squad.
