University President Steps Down
The president of Tennessee Temple University is resigning after students at the Christian college in Chattanooga complained that he had plagiarized, but Danny Lovett said he was leaving the university anyway.
Lovett told the Chattanooga Times Free Press on Thursday that he was planning to leave because he had become a pastor at a Baptist church, but he also acknowledged that he plagiarized some passages in his book, “Jesus is Awesome.”
Lovett told the newspaper he was contacted by another author two years ago about plagiarism in Lovett’s book, but said they settled the dispute legally. Lovett said it was a mistake he made 15 years ago in his first published book, but said he never notified the school’s board about the incident.
