ARM Hosts Cookout for Homeless
Area Relief Ministries celebrated the 4th of July holiday a little early Thursday evening with their 4th annual Independence Day Community Cook for the homeless. ARM is a leader in the area when it comes to outreach, especially to the homeless. Each winter, they sponsor an overnight men’s shelter called “Room in the Inn.” The organization said this get-together is a great way for the homeless and church volunteers who host them doing “Room in the Inn” to fellowship. “We know the 4th of July is a family event and we know that we are the only family that a lot of these guys have,” said Lisa Peoples, executive director of Area Relief Ministries. “And so this is just one of our favorite events throughout the year. The whole community comes out and has a good time. and it’s just a good event for our homeless community.” ARM provides year-round services for the homeless in West Tennessee, including the “Open Arm” Day Shelter.
