KY Firefighter Charged With Arson
A southern Kentucky firefighter has pleaded guilty to setting a blaze in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Michael L. Luttrell, a volunteer with the Woodbine Fire Department in Whitley County, entered the plea Tuesday in U.S. District Court in London.
In a plea agreement, Luttrell admitted to setting several fires to timber, underbrush and grass along Whippoorwill Trail in the forest in Whitley County, The Times-Tribune reported.
The fires, set around March 20, destroyed more than 100 acres.
Sentencing before U.S. District Judge Gregory F. Van Tatenhove has not been scheduled.
Luttrell faces up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
