IRS Targets Mississippi Surgeon
Dr. Robert L. Brunston Jr., a Biloxi surgeon and cardiologist, has pleaded guilty to willful failure to file a federal income tax return.
Brunston was indicted on four counts that alleged he failed to file returns for four years on a combined gross income of nearly $2.1 million. The indictment said it started in 2005 with the 2004 calendar year.
The Sun Herald reports Brunston pleaded guilty Friday to one count. A court document shows he has agreed to pay what he owes as part of a plea agreement. The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in prison and a $25,000 fine.
He is free on bond pending sentencing on Sept. 29 by U.S. District Judge Sul Ozerden.
