A Brownsville man accused of stalking an area Army recruitment officer faced a judge, Friday morning. Kelvin Brummett, 32, faces one count of stalking. According to court papers, he was arrested after visiting the recruitment office on Vann Drive, Thursday morning. Police say they picked him up as he walked in a nearby restaurant parking lot. Recruitment officers tell police, Brummett has been repeatedly asked to stay off the premises after making threats to one of the recruiters. They say Brummett began making the threats after the recruiter told him he was not qualified to join the Army. The recruiter filed a report with Jackson police regarding alleged threats by Brummett, in June. Court papers also say the same recruiter filed a report regarding Brummett with the Brownsville Police Department and Homeland Security was notified of the incident. As of Friday afternoon, Brummett remained in the Madison County Jail in lieu of $20,000. His next court date is set for Thursday, July 14.
