A wanted sex offender is back behind bars in Madison County, after officers say he failed to keep local law enforcement abreast of where he was living. James Clifford Williams, 46, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in the 100-block of Neff Street in Jackson, Monday. According to the Marshal Service, arrest warrants were issued for Williams on April 14, when investigators say he disappeared from his residence and failed to contact authorities. He was wanted for failing to register as a convicted sex offender and for violation of probation in Madison and Giles Counties. The Tennessee Sex Offender Registry shows Williams was convicted of aggravated sexual battery in 1983.
