A Madison County man is behind bars after deputies say they caught him twice in one day with meth. Deputies were first called out to a home in the 200-block of Lower Brownsville Road, Wednesday. There they report finding James Michael Garst, 42, unresponsive after self-injecting an unknown substance from a syringe. He was taken by ambulance to a Jackson hospital where he was treated and released. Deputies also said they noticed a chemical odor associated with the making of methamphetamine. Investigators with the Jackson-Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit were called out and found meth making ingredients and equipment used in previous meth cooks that had been burned in a trash burn-pile behind the home. Lisa Horne, 31, who lives at the home with Garst, was arrested on charges of initiation of methamphetamine manufacture and possession of drug paraphernalia. As of Friday, she remained jailed in lieu of $20,000 bond. After being released from the hospital, investigators said Garst went to a home on Steam Mill Ferry Road and entered it without permission. The owners were not there at the time. Narcotics officers went to the home and found Garst. They said he had meth making ingredients and equipment left over from a meth cook from the previous night at another location. Garst was arrested on two counts of initiation of methamphetamine manufacture, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated burglary. He is current jailed in lieu of $30,000.
