A Crockett County High School student hit by a car allegedly driven by a Dyersburg teen is back home after months of surgeries and rehabilitation. “You never knew from one visit to another what you were going to see when you went in,” said Kim Riley, mother of Riley Ward. Authorities have charged Christopher Adam Purvis, 18, with attempted first degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident. Witnesses say Purvis, a Dyersburg High School student, revved his engine and ran into the group of Crockett County students, hitting Ward. “One of Riley’s friends who is part of the family called me and told me he had been hit by a car,” said Ms. Riley. She said her son was air lifted to the Med in Memphis where he underwent several surgeries. “When they told me he was being air lifted, I knew it wasn’t good,” said Ms. Riley. After more than two week at the Med, Riley was air lifted to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Ga. for rehabilitation. Ms. Riley said her son is not on any medication and has made a full recovery. Riley will attend a preliminary hearing for Purvis, Friday, July 15. It will be the first time he has seen Purvis since the incident happened.
