A Jackson man is behind bars after investigators said he caused a meth explosion that sparked a fire inside a north Jackson motel, Sunday. Christopher Fondren, 35, is charged with the making and possession of meth and vandalism. Investigators said Fondren originally told them the fire started when his motel room microwave blew up. However, firefighters said they found evidence of a meth lab in a scorched trash can, which narcotics officers confirmed. Police said a second man, Phillip Steely, 45, of Hardin County was in the room, but left before responders arrived. Steely is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Call Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-8477 if you have seen him.
