Woman Charged with Abusing Assisted Living Patient

A Texas woman is behind bars in Madison County on charges involving the abuse of a woman with mental disabilities. Carla Gause, 36, was extradited from Dallas and appeared in Jackson City Court, Monday morning on several county of aggravated assault and willful abuse of an impaired adult. Investigators said in April 2010, while an employee with Guardian Community Living, Gause abused the 35 year old woman while caring for her in her home. Police said the victim suffered numerous cuts and bruised on her back and the back of her legs caused by a belt buckle. Gause is currently jailed in lieu of $25,000 bond.
