Summer campers from all across the Hub City gathered Wednesday to show off their talents at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. The campers took to the stage, danced, sang and rapped during the event called the “Jackson Idol” contest sponsored by the Jackson Recreation and Parks Department. Miss Tennessee 2011 Erin Hatley was one of the judges along with local artist, Young Mexico. The kids had one earlier event at their respective camps in order to get a chance to compete for the top prize. Organizers said the kids love to have the opportunity to show their talent and skills at the annual contest.
