Savannah Children Hurt in Home Fire
A one-year-old Savannah boy is lucky to be alive after family members said he was playing with matches in his bedroom. Family members said 5-year-old Marty Butler and his youngest brother, Miles were playing with their door shut when the fire started. Their father had to kick in the door to save them. They were rushed to the hospital. Miles was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, where he remains as of late Wednesday night. Neighbors said they were shocked to see the children’s injuries. “One of them had a burn on his head and the hair was stretched and the little baby had like the second degree burns all over his face, chest and all down his body,” said Candace Holly, a neighbor of the victim. “It could’ve been really bad, said Brandy Rich, a family member of the victim. “I’m thankful that God saved them even though the one is hurting, God will protect him.” The youngest is still in critical condition, but family members said his injuries are not life-threatening. All of the boys are expected to fully recover, however their home was a total loss.
