A Haywood County man is dead after being hit by a tractor trailer on Interstate 40, Sunday afternoon. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, James Turner, 45, of Brownsville was hit after parking his car in the emergency lane, getting out of his car and waving his arms at an approaching truck. The driver of the truck told investigators that after Turner began waiving his arms, he jumped in front of the truck and was hit by the truck’s right running board.
