Salvation Army Takes Kids on School Shopping Spree
The Salvation Army is helping out some special kids get ready for the upcoming school year. Representatives from the Jackson Salvation Army took 17 kids shopping at the Target store in north Jackson, Tuesday. The kids received an $80 gift card as part of Target’s Shopping Spree program. The children and their families said they were excited to buy clothes and things they need for the new school year. “We have had so many thanks from parents. They just enjoyed it, ” said Captain Stan Robison of the Salvation Army. “They were grateful for the help they received this year, because this is a hard year. Things are still happening for folks and it’s just tough out there. ” Organizers said it was fun for the kids as well as those who were with them. Target is giving the Salvation Army $1 million for the program.
