The sweltering heat and high heat indices were no match for the giving spirit of one group of young people. Teens with popular Poplar Heights Baptist Church volunteered their time to paint and make small repairs to one homeowner’s shed along Royal Street, Tuesday afternoon. The group partners with the city of Jackson to provide the repair service for qualifying homeowners. One volunteer that spoke with ABC 7 Eyewitness News said seeing the joy it brings people makes it all worth while. “Hopefully, we can impact our community for the better and that we can grow and better the city of Jackson a little bit and, hopefully show the love of God to our community,” said Gabe Mudd, youth pastor at Poplar Heights Baptist Church, Jackson. Materials, such as paint supplies are purchased using excess funds from the city of Jackson.
