Davis Appears for Preliminary Hearing

The Jackson father and husband accused of kidnapping an area realtor in a plot to rape her last week was back in court, Thursday. Stephen Davis, 26, appeared in Jackson City Court Thursday afternoon for what was supposed to be his preliminary hearing. But instead of moving forward and allowing his alleged victim to take the stand. Davis waived his right to the hearing which means his case will now go to a Madison County grand jury. However, Davis did ask the judge for one thing; to lower his $200,000 bond. “The probability of conviction, in my opinion, is very high since he stated more or less that he had intended to rape her and the only reason that he didn’t is because she screamed,” said Jackson City Court Judge Blake Anderson. Judge Anderson did not lower Davis’ bond. Investigators said Davis told them as he handcuffed, hog tied and gagged the woman, she screamed so loudly that he forced her into a closet and left the house with her purse and cell phone.
