For businesses in McKenzie, the three red light and speed cameras set up around town are starting to drive away customers. “I’ve had people from local towns say that they would just stay trading where they’re at instead of driving over here,” said business owner Andy Wilson. That is why they have started a petition to remove the cameras from the city. They said customers from surrounding towns specifically said they will not come back because of the threat of getting ticketed and it is starting to have an impact on business. “We’ve lost vendors, employees, and customers as a result of the cameras,” said business owner Ben Gaines. After just one day, Rodger Reed said he has collected about 40 business owner’s names are on the petition. Reed said that when he has collected around 100 business owner’s signatures, he plans to present the petition to the city council for review.
