Texas Woman Pleads Guilty to Charges of Abuse

The Dallas, Texas woman charged with using a belt to beat a Jackson woman with mental disabilities admitted to the crime ,Thursday. Jackson police said Carla Gause, 36, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of simple assault in the 2010 attack on a 35-year-old woman. She was originally charged with aggravated assault and willful abuse of an impaired adult. At the time, Gause was employed by Guardian Community Living. Investigators said the victim suffered numerous cuts and bruises on her back and back of her legs. Due to time served, Gause was eligible to be released from jail, however she remains in custody due to an unrelated probation violation.
