Tuesday marks the beginning of a new school year for Jackson-Madison County students. Monday night was the warm-up for students, parents and teachers with several open house sessions. One open house was held at North Parkway Middle School for new and returning students and their parents to get to know their teachers and find their way around the school and to their classrooms. Jackson-Central-Merry High School held an open house as well called “Cougar Night”, allowing students to meet teachers and staff and familiarize themselves with their surroundings. School leaders said they are ready to get to this new school year underway. “It’s just a great way to get the school year kicked off, get some excitement going,” said Eric Jones, principal of Jackson Central-Merry. “Get the kids and parents excited about the kids getting back in school.” For students system-wide, it is a full day for the first full day of school.
