Domestic Violence Unit to Reopen

Jackson city leaders approved a much needed grant, signifying the reopening of JPD’s domestic violence unit. According to Captain Mike Holt, the unit will be up and running by Wednesday morning. City council members temporarily shut down the unit last month when the contracts needed to provide funding were returned late. Since the unit was formed in 2009, officials said it has helped decrease domestic violence statistics in the city.
