The events begin on Friday morning with more than 15,000 soldiers participating in a run led by current commanding general, Maj. Gen. John F. Campbell, who recently returned from leading the division during a yearlong deployment in eastern Afghanistan.
The conclusion on Aug. 12 will be a change of command ceremony to welcome the new commander, Maj. Gen. James McConville.
Throughout the week, soldiers will compete in a variety of events such as an unarmed combatives tournament, softball and basketball tournaments, a marksmanship competition, the Toughest Air Assault Soldier competition and 10-km and 5-km races.
