Man Charged with Beating a Senior Citizen

A Henderson County man is awaiting a mental evaluation after being charged with attempted 2nd degree murder for allegedly beating a 72-year-old man. Deputies arrested 56-year-old Cecil R. “Chuck” Wright after he allegedly got into an argument with the senior citizen and proceeded to beat him with a stick and then a brick. Deputies say Wright had been living with the victim for a few weeks. He is now in custody of the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department without bond and faces charges for aggravated assault and attempted 2nd degree murder. The victim is recovering at home.
