Tennalum Receives Safety Award

A local Jackson industry is awarded by state labor officials for keeping their employees safe. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is honoring Tennalum by presenting the industry with the Commissioner’s Award of Excellence for Workplace Safety. The company and employees have worked together to achieve a required number of hours worked without experiencing a lost workday case, and have maintained total injury and illness incidence rates below the national average. In fact, employees have worked more than 560,000 hours without a lost-time injury. The award was presented in Nashville today. Tennalum, a division of Kaiser Aluminum, has 200 employees at its Jackson plant. The plant manufacturers aluminum rod and bar products used primarily in aerospace and automotive applications.
