Nando Jones Preparing for Auction
A Hub City store, which began serving west Tennesseans back in the 1920s is closing its doors for good and Saturday is your last chance to take a piece of its history home. Nando Jones Dry Goods Store, located on Airway Boulevard is holding an absolute auction of all of its inventory and fixtures, beginning at 9, Saturday morning. Auction organizers spent Friday preparing for the auction, in which bidders can lay claim to a wide range of items up for bids in the store. “It has been in business I think from around 1926, so there is alot of memorabilia items in here,” said Rickey Hinson of Hinson Auction Company. “There are some vintage clothes, we have a scale and a bailer that was in the old livery stable downtown, cash registers, antiques and just alot of clothes and stuff that hopefully somebody can use in a yard sale or out in a flea market.” The store moved to its location on Airways after its Lafayette Street location was heavily damaged during the 2003 tornadoes that hit downtown Jackson. .
