Woman Killed in Maury City

Maury City Police and the TBI are investigating a late night homicide of an elderly woman. Officials told ABC 7 Eyewitness News, Lila Lilley, 89 was shot while in her home with her husband in Maury City just before midnight on Thursday. Investigators believe the bullet came through the front window of the couple’s home just before it hit the woman. Relatives of Lilley said they were in shock to find out what had happened. “She had her flashlight with her and they said it appeared she’d gotten up maybe to go to the restroom or something in the night and that’s really all we know,” said Lilley’s nephew Gary Manning. As of right now, investigators do not know if the homicide was accidental or intentional. Lilley’s body is being sent to medical examiner in Memphis for an autopsy.
