Dynamite Discovered in Henderson County

A surprising discovery early Tuesday in Henderson County as dozens of sticks of dynamite were found. The sheriff told ABC 7 Eyewitness News, 40 sticks of dynamite were uncovered on property in the eastern part of the county around Noon, Tuesday. The 20 pounds of explosives were apparently found on an abandoned farm, not near any homes. The sheriff said at no time was anyone in danger. However, because his deputies do not usually deal with these kinds of explosives, he called in the experts. “We called in the state bomb and arson and the ATF to help dispose of all of that,” said Henderson County Sheriff Brian Duke. The dynamite was moved from its original location to an open area where it was burned. Experts say even though it is highly explosive, dynamite can be burned without detonating it. However, that should only be done by well-trained experts.
