Police Suspect Arson In Fatal Fire
Authorities in Knoxville say a house fire that killed two people might have been intentionally set.
The names of the victims weren’t released after the blaze Tuesday night in a northern Knoxville neighborhood. Two passers-by saw the fire and tried to get into the house, but were forced back by the flames.
Fire Department Capt. D.J. Corcoran said firefighters found the body of a male just inside the front door of the home. They found the body of a female during a third search of the structure more than an hour later. It was in a back bedroom.
Knoxville Police spokesman Darrell DeBusk told The Knoxville News Sentinel the preliminary investigation points to foul play.
