KY Medicaid Changes On Track
The secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services says the agency is on track to meet an Oct. 1 deadline to overhaul Kentucky’s Medicaid program.
Secretary Janie Miller made the comments Monday to members of the legislative Medicaid Oversight and Advisory Committee, according to The Courier-Journal ( and the Lexington Herald-Leader (
The statements came despite a request from an advisory council to delay moving most Medicaid members outside the Jefferson County area onto a managed care plan.
During the meeting, several lawmakers asked if the state is moving too quickly, but Miller said she sees no reason for delays.
The move is meant to save money and eliminate a budget shortfall of about $100 million in the program that serves more than 800,000 Kentuckians.
