Prelim Report On Fatal Plane Crash Released
A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board shows pilot David Duncan sent no distress signals before his fatal airplane crash Aug. 17 in Tupelo.
The preliminary report was released Wednesday. NTSB spokesman Nicholas Worrell says the report was based on firsthand observations, flight data and witness interviews.
Duncan, who was 69, died in the crash that occurred shortly after the plane took off from the Tupelo Regional Airport.
The report says the plane took off around 8 a.m. and climbed to an altitude of between 300 and 500 feet off the runway.
The report states witness accounts differ in the fact some say the plane’s engines were still operating at low power, while others say the engines had stopped before the crash.
