Charges Against Milan Coach Dismissed

The Milan teacher and football coach charged with aggravated assault against the middle school principal was back in court for a scheduled hearing Wednesday morning. The District Attorney told the judge Principal Sonya Cathey requested the charges be dropped because she wanted to focus on getting back to work. About two weeks ago, Cathey filed a report claiming Julius “Doc” Roberson held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her while she was at his home. Roberson’s attorney Tim Crocker said he believes the charges were dropped because there was no merit to the case. “We believe it was dismissed because the charges were totally invalid and trumped up and she had no case,” said Crocker. He adds that his client will be attempting to have his job reinstated. He told us Roberson is currently on unpaid suspension.
