MS Woman Charged With Illegal Piercing
A 34-year-old woman has been charged with illegally piercing the body of a 15-year-old girl at an unlicensed home-shop near Southaven High School.
Police Lt. Mark Little tells The Commercial Appeal that Regina Clanton was arrested this past week.
Little says Clanton was arrested on several outstanding warrants for illegal body piercing and simple assault. Police say the assault charge stems from piercing the underage girl without her parents’ consent.
Clanton was released from the DeSoto County jail on $1,300 bond.
Little says the girl’s mother reported to police that her daughter had her navel pierced. He says police were able to identify Clanton and the house from a previous case.
Mississippi state law prohibits both tattoos and body piercing on children without their parents’ consent.
