Habitat To Rehab Seized House
The Middle Tennessee U.S. Attorney’s Office and Habitat for Humanity will renovate a historic home seized in the prosecution of a crime.
Renovation of the Lassiter House in East Nashville is scheduled to begin Tuesday, according to The Tennessean Volunteers from Habitat’s Nashville area affiliate and the federal prosecutor’s office will work on the home under Habitat’s ReConstruct program. Historic Nashville is also aiding in the project.
U.S. Attorney Jerry E. Martin said in a news release that the project will transform a neighborhood blight into an asset and provide a home for a deserving family.
The house was seized by the Department of Justice in 2007.
