UT Ag Center Teaching about Pests
The West Tennessee Ag Research and Education Center was invaded by landscapers, commercial growers, retailers and consumers. They were there to learn about plant pests and diseases. Attendees took the opportunity to tour the UT Gardens Jackson, located on the center grounds. Also, the group had the chance to hear from experts about dealing with pests, plants that are resistant to pests and treating disease, along with how to control the bugs that often consume gardens and lawns. “One thing we are doing is inside programs that actually provide pesticide information. but we’re also doing walk and talks so that they can look at the grounds and see the beautiful plants and see if they can use them in their landscape,” said Carol Reese, UT Ornamental Specialist. “Hopefully, it will influence what they chose to use in there clients yards.” The UT Center research based information about agriculture, family and consumer sciences and resource development to residents of West Tennessee.
