A Madison County grand jury will decide if Wallace Jimmerson, 52, of Toone, will go on trial for allegedly shooting his wife in the parking lot of south Walmart. During what was supposed to be his preliminary hearing, Thursday, a judge ordered Jimmerson to undergo a mental evaluation. He said after that occurred, his preliminary hearing could be scheduled. However, Jimmerson refused and waived his right to a preliminary hearing, allowing his case to go straight to the grand jury. Jimmerson is charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment in the shooting on August 23. Court papers show he confessed to investigators that he followed his wife of 20-years to work that day and shot her. She is now recovering at home.
