Police Investigate Fatal Weekend Crash

A weekend traffic crash takes the life of a Jackson man. Jackson police said Lawrence Williamson, 66, died in a single vehicle crash Saturday evening. The wreck happened along the 300 block of Airways Boulevard. Investigators said Williamson first hit a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk and then hit a sign in front of a business. Williamson died at the scene and the cyclist was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a Jackson hospital. The investigation indicated speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
