Dodd Holds Meeting About Crime
Two shootings, one of which was fatal, Tuesday night, brought dozes of concerned citizens out, Thursday night. Jackson City Councilman Johnny Dodd hosted a “Crime Issues” meeting at T.R. White Sportsplex where at least 60 people came out. He is urging community members to step up, come together and take a stand against crime in their east Jackson neighborhoods. Those we spoke with say they are ready to do something. “I hope it makes the residents more alert and more aware of anything out of the ordinary in their area,” said Willie Long Sr., who lives in east Jackson. Another concerned citizen who came out said a change must happen. “Somebody needs to step up and be a participant and try to help our kids,” said George Cobb. “We are trying our best to make a statement tonight and let other parents know they should come out and support us.” Dodd says he plans to host another “Crime Issues” meeting with local pastors on October 11.
