Beer Board Denies Party Permit

At least one unsanctioned off-campus event set to coincide with the Lane College homecoming will not take place this weekend. Foster’s Enterprises asked the Jackson Beer Board for a permit to sell, store and serve beer at Jackson’s Oman Arena, Saturday. After delaying a vote last week, Beer Board members were set to take up the issue against, Thursday. But the application was withdrawn. Lane officials attended the meeting and were poised to oppose the permit. “We see this as a possible recipe for disaster and that the safety of our students may come into play,” said Richard Donnell of Lane College. During its meeting, the Beer Board also approved a beer permit for Los Amigos Restaurant.
