Ft. Campbell Soldier Faces Rape Charges

A Fort Campbell soldier is behind bars in Jackson. He is charged with raping a student from Jackson Christian School who he met online. Christopher Kraatz, 27, was officially charged with two counts of aggravated statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Friday. According to arrest warrants filed in Jackson City Court, Kraatz drove to Jackson in August, picked up the 17-year-old up from school, had sex with her in a local hotel, then returned her to campus. In September, Kraatz is accused of doing the same thing. Investigators fear this is not Kraatz’s first time to prey on a young girl online. “We do have evidence to suggest that there are other young ladies who he encountered over the internet,” said Lt. Tyreece Miller of the Jackson Police Dept. “It’s paramount that we find out if they are adults or if they are minors.” Kraatz is currently jailed in lieu of $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27.
