Murderer Charged in Meth Bust

A convicted Lexington murderer is now back behind bars, this time with multiple meth charges. Lexington police officers served Max Ray Johnson with an arrest warrant on Thursday, after they say he purchased more than the legal amount of pseudoephedrine. When they got to his house they say the smell of meth was very apparent. A search of the resident, according to officers, turned up an active meth lab. Johnson has been out on parole since 2007 for his second degree murder conviction of Jerry Web in 1989. However, Johnson’s mother says these recent meth accusations are false. “All I know is they [police] made a mistake by accusing my son of making meth in that house because I’ve been in and out of that house every day and I didn’t see nothing like that,” said Ruby Johnson Johnson remains in the Henderson County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bond. He faces multiple charges, including possession of meth with intent to resale.
