Weakley County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at a home near Dresden. Investigators were called to the home along Highway 54 around 7:30 a.m. Thursday , when they said a family member found the body of Janice Reason, 51. Her estranged husband, Randy Reasons, 54, was not too far away. He was found lifeless in his pickup truck. “We’re still putting together a lot of pieces,” said investigator Marty Plunk. “We have gathered a lot of information that we’re going to go over the next day or so, but right now we’re still putting the pieces together, and as that develops we’ll get that out as soon as we can.” According to investigators, Reasons shot his wife with a shot gun, later shooting himself. They still do not have a motive, but said the couple was going through a divorce. Weakley County deputies said there was no history of calls to the couple’s home. When nearby residents heard about the shootings, they were both shocked and saddened. “It’s a sad situation with these holidays coming up,” said resident Kenneth Dent. “I think it’s a tragic event,” said resident Alton Wallace. “I don’t think it should have taken place and I feel sorry for the families involved.” Investigators said they have taken the bodies to the medical examiner’s office for autopsies. The case is still under investigation.
