The Kentucky woman who sparked a shoot out involving a trooper and her boyfriend, appeared in federal court in Jackson, Monday. According to court papers, Cristl Pepper is charged with three weapons related counts in last month’s shooting. Earlier a federal judge appointed her a public defender. Monday, during a detention hearing, the judge ordered her to remain in custody in Jackson without bond, until her pending trial. However, attorneys were given an opportunity to file a motion for conditions of release and another detention hearing at a later date. It was almost a month ago, when Pepper was arrested by Trooper Dwayne Stanford during a traffic stop. Investigators say her passenger Robert Cunningham Jr, 50, began firing at Stanford as he walked back to Pepper’s car. Cunningham died when Stanford returned fire.
