Jackson Police are looking for a suspect who tried to run down officers following a high speed chase. Jackson police were called about a suspicious car driving around Lane College. The car ran a stop sign, and when officers tried to pull the car over, they said the suspect ran. The driver lost control and the vehicle stopped in front of Perseus Distribution on Flex Drive. When officers tried to approach Gary Allen Jordan in the car, they said he was not ready to end the chase. “The officers were yelling commands for him to get out of the car, he put the car in reverse and tried to back over the officers so they fired shots in the car, ” said Deputy Chief Barry Michael. Investigators said the driver continued to drive, even though the car was damaged, and stopped at the entrance of Kate Campbell Park at Paul Coffman Drive. The suspect then ran into the park woods. Also, there were two female passengers in the white Lincoln. Investigators said, front seat passenger, Jasmin Copeland, attacked one of the officers and scratched him in the face. Copeland has been charged with assault on an officer. Officials got their helicopters and K-9 out there but by that time they were not able to locate Jordan. They believe Jordan ran because he has outstanding warrants in Madison County, all involving illegal drugs and weapons. If you have information on Gary Allen Jordan’s whereabouts, contact the Jackson Police Department (731) 425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at (731) 424-8477.
