Instead of dressing up for Halloween this year, students at one Jackson school are dressing up in what they want to be when they grow up. Teachers said the most popular costumes have been nurses, lawyers, and police officers. Jackson Career and Technology Elementary School asked students to think about their future on Friday, as part of Career Day. Businesses from all over Jackson came to tell, and show, kids what they do in their workplace. “What we want to instill is that they are able to do all the different things that they want if they put their mind on it, that they can study, and all the different activities that these normal people that went to school themselves,” says Lisa Bailey of Jackson Technology Elementary. Bailey said the students get very excited about this day. Teachers hope Career Day will make students start thinking that it’s good to have an education first before getting a career.
