Hunters for the Hungry Fundraiser Held in Gibson County
Hunters in Gibson County put down their bows and muzzle loaders and gathered in Milan, Tuesday night for the 4th annual “Hunters for the Hungry” fundraiser. More than 200 people attended the organizations only yearly fundraiser. There was a silent and live auction ,where items such as gas cookers and ATV tires were up for bids. Last year, the group provided more than 10,000 pounds of venison to feed families in need, something organizers said they hope can be an inspiration to others. “The main thing is that hungry people in our area get a good meal out of it and that is the most important thing,” said Jack Joyner, president of the Gibson County Hunters for the Hungry. “Yeah, it’s nice that we have done that, but the most important part I hope somebody else outdoes us this year so the needs can be met for the hungry.” Organizers told 7 Eyewitness News Staff their goal was to raise $10,000, which would pay for the cleaning and processing of the meat.
