KY Teacher Faces Sex Charge
A teacher in western Kentucky has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse after police say she had sexual contact with a student.
Kentucky State Police spokesman Dean Patterson says 38-year-old Amy Noles, a Spanish teacher at Graves County High School in Mayfield, had illegal sexual contact with a student at least once.
School Superintendent Peter Galloway told The Paducah Sun that the school system suspended Noles after her arrest Thursday .
Patterson says Noles is charged under a state law passed in 2008 that makes sexual contact between minors and people in positions of special authority or trust illegal, even if the young person is over 16. Otherwise, 16 is the age of legal sexual consent in Kentucky.
Noles was being held in Graves County jail.
