Workers Scrapping Old Trenton Water Tower

A longtime fixture of a Gibson County city is gone. Workers have taken down the Trenton water tower that served the city for many years. The tower has not been used since 2002, so on Tuesday, workers brought down the huge water tank that has dotted the skyline behind the old Peabody High School on South College Street. Due to its age, the city was going to have to do work that would have cost thousands of dollars, so city leaders decided to scrap it and sell the metal. Workers said due to rain delays it will take until Saturday to complete the job.
