The Gibson County High School band has a new title this year – State Champions. On Monday, the band celebrated its Division II state title, recognizing both band captains and members for their accomplishments. Their field show is called “Never Forget,” which is dedicated to remembering the lives lost in the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001. Band Director Jeremy Tate said the last time they won the state title was in 2001, 10 years ago. “It’s still overwhelming,” Tate said. “We don’t have our feet on the ground, still up in the sky. I’m still just amazed at what’s going on. I’m happy for these kids.” Tate said his students practice every day, and it is a good feeling the practice has paid off.
