The Jackson Rotary Club held their annual Veterans Day meeting to honor local men and women who defend our country. Organizers say they have been presenting this ceremony for about 20 years with the help of the Jackson Lions Club. They had special performances from the Jackson State Community College Choir, the Liberty High School ROTC, and a guest speaker to talk about the Jackson railroad’s roles in past wars. “There were times when we were growing up, some of us remember the Vietnam era and the fact that the Veterans weren’t really thought well of during that time and so this is a way for us to think of the veterans,” said Chairman Mike Freeman. The ceremony also recognized members that have served in the military for the longest amount of time.
